Celebrities aren’t normal. They have personal chefs; they’re on the cover of magazines; they make boyfriend jeans look stylish. Celebrities aren’t normal. So it’s only fitting they’d give their children names that are anything but usual.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter, Apple, comes to mind. We also can’t forget Jason Lee’s son, Pilot Inspektor. The ridiculous name ritual is often reserved for pop stars, but lately we’ve seen the trend reach over into the country world.

Most recently, Sugarland singer, Jennifer Nettles, named her first son Magnus Hamilton. Jake Owen and wife Lacey named their first daughter Olive Pearl (the same name Drew Barrymore gave her first daughter, by the way). Mike Eli of The Eli Young Band gave his daughter an interesting name: Kline Olivia. Even Jewel opted for a less tradition name after having her son. She and her husband chose Kase Townes.

So are the Matthews and Emilys are gone in the world of celebrities and singers? Not necessarily. Singer, Joel Nichols, and his wife named their newest addition Dylan River – a relatively normal name. Megan Fox and husband Brian Austin Green named their first son Noah Shannon. The traditional names may not be lost on this world just yet; if only Beyonce and Jay Z would get the memo. Blue Ivy?
