She may be headed down the pop/rock track, but the newly crowned Voice winner, Cassadee Pope, could have a damn good career in country if she wanted to. Do I hear a crossover alert?
Cassadee was one of those wild card singers on The Voice who could literally sing anything that came her way – and she did. From Kelly Clarkson’s, “Behind These Hazel Eyes,” to Avril Levigne’s, “My Happy Ending,” Cassadee showed the world she wasn’t afraid of big ranged, power songs.
To me though, Cassadee shined when she brought it home to the country. What a tear jerker moment when she sweetly belted out Miranda Lambert’s (co written by Blake Shelton) “Over You.” And her rendition of Keith Urban’s “Stupid Boy,” was heart felt and beatiful!
If you’ve been on the fence about Cassadee pursuing a country career before the finale, take a listen to her rendition of Faith Hill’s “Cry.” I’ve listened to it about 10 times now and I still get chills every time.
Cassadee Pope will succeed in the music business after winning The Voice. Heck, she already had a budding career with her band, Hey Monday; her victory will only open up doors faster for the singer. Perhaps she’ll shoot to be the next Avril Levigne – and she’ll be amazing – but she’s got that country/pop sound that is HOT right now and her crossover potential could skyrocket. Just sayin’.
