As if her perfect hair, amazing figure and bad ass music wasn’t reason enough to love Carrie Underwood (and I loveher), I now have another reason. The country vs. pop war rages on, but Carrie remains neutral saying she prefers not to label herself.
Unlike many other country artists, Carrie has shied away from redoing her songs to fit a particular mold. ” I’ve never been one for doing remixes,” she tells the Chicago Tribune. “Then I’ve gotta decide which version am I gonna be tonight: country Carrie or pop Carrie? I’d rather just make country music that anybody can get into no matter what they listen to.”
Her reasoning continues: I’m not gonna try to make it something that it’s not. I’m not gonna think, ‘I need to ‘countrify’ this by adding more fiddles and steel guitar.’ We do creatively what the song wants.” – Wow. Just wow.
Other country and pop artists could learn a thing or two from the superstar. Her method has proven to be successful after all. Her smash hit “Before He Cheats” was never redone and yet peaked in the top 10 on the pop charts and earned her a Grammy nod in the Song of the Year category. Two of her recent singles, “Blown Away” and “Good Girl,” have also crossed over the pop line, sans remixes.
