When 16 year old Danielle Bradbery won season 4 of The Voice there was no question in anyone’s mind which genre she’d sing. It’s a bit of a shocker however, that the blonde singer wants to sing pop country.

During an interview with the Today Show, Danielle revealed her career plans. “I love country, but I want to be more pop country,” she admits. “I love all genres, but I think pop-country…”

I’m not up in arms over this admission – just taken aback. This is coming from the girl who sang older country tunes like The Judd’s “Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout The Good Old Days)” and Jo Dee Messina’s “Heads Carolina, Tails California.” I just assumed she’d stick to a more traditional sound.

Of course, pop country is a well received trend among artists and fans alike. Cassadee Pope recently defended her decision to sing pop country saying she felt country music was headed in that direction. And lets not forget the unrivaled success of Taylor Swift’s last pop country album.

In my opinion Danielle Bradbery is likely smart to jump on this country music trend. Do you think pop country is the right decision for the newly crowned Voice winner?
