Tim McGraw sure does now how to bring a tear to your eyes. The singer took the Oscar stage last night and gave a heartfelt performance of Glen Campbell's final song, "I'm Not Gonna Miss You."
The song, featured in the documentary film, Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me, was nominated for an Acedemy Award in the Best Orginal Song category, an award that eventaully went to John Legend's and Common's "Glory" from the movie Selma. Although the song didn't take home the big award, we're all still talking about the simple and meaningful performance.
Tim, dressed in a black tux and his signature black cowboy hat, began the song acapella. He stayed on a stook for the entirety of the performance and there were no flashy sets or lights. The sad words of the song brought many audience members to tears.
Glen could not be at the awards last night to see his song have it's moment. Sadly, the once top selling recording artist is living in assisted living facility and is dealing with Alzheimer's disease. His wife, Kim, says he can no longer remember his previous life as a country singer and did not understand that his song was nominated for such a top honor at last night's Oscar's.
But Tim was on hand to pay tribute to Glen saying "I'm Not Gonna Miss You" is "a powerful song from one of the true legends of the music industry.”
The song was also nominated and won the award for Best Country Song at the 2015 GRAMMYS.
