Aerosmith is less than pleased with their lead singer’s recent decision to make country music. In fact, Steven Tyler says, they’re not happy at all.
“I’m sure they’re not happy,” Steven told Rolling Stone Country. But Joe [Perry] had done five solo albums. I just thought ‘Hey, it’s my turn in the barrel.”
And Steven admits that taking his turn at country music supposed to be just a little fun, but it’s turned into much more for the singer.
“This is a side project, which has now turned into a love of life. I think we got something here that the radio would love to play. Look, That’s why I’m in it. I love to take the F-ing power to wow to the 100th degree. It’s just what I do.”
Steven has certainly been doing that. His first country single was released last month and has already cracked the Top 40 with no signs of stopping. The rock legend adds that now is the right time for him to pursue country music because of how different the sound is now.
“Rock ’n roll can be a little aloof. But country is changing. Modern country might add a little acapella or raps or heavier beats… I think country is the new rock ’n roll - everyone is trying to stretch it out.”
