Kacey Musgraves is throwing some shade at Taylor Swift! Her new song 'Good Ol Boys Club,' takes a jab at the once country singer.
So let’s break it down for you. Here’s one of the lines that hints the song is about Taylor: “Another gear in a big machine don’t sound like fun to me.” Taylor’s record label is Big Machine.
And here’s the shade: “Favors for friends will get you in and get you far / Shouldn’t be about who it is you know / but about how good you are.”
Taylor is notorious for her brood of celebrity friends. The singer almost flaunts her gang all over social media. She’s been photographed with A listers like model Gigi Hadid, actress Jessica Alba, singer Selena Gomez, and the list just goes on and on. Not to mention she’s dating the number one DJ in world, Calvin Harris. And if you need any more proof that Taylor’s loves to be surrounded by big names, just take a look at her ‘Bad Blood’ video. You can’t even count all the cameos.
Plus, Kacey Musgraves is good friends with Katy Perry, who has been feuding with Taylor for months now. You’ll remember Kacey and the roar singer went on tour together last year. So perhaps Kacey is trying to defend her friend by giving taylor a taste of her own medicine.
But Kacey insists the song was inspired by many different people. “Any industry has its shoo-ins and people that get in because they know somebody, or their dad worked here, whatever,” she told The Fader.
Hmmm, she could be referring to Taylor again on this one. Taylor’s father owns a stake in the Big Machine label, FYI.
